Topic “ Explain why students do copy-Paste’’

Copy-Paste Habit

The students are smart and well-educated intellectual. But Lately I see there is a tendency of the students in the making of paper with the easy way to download (download) materials from the internet through the website related to topic searched, then copy and paste them into Microsoft word.

For college students the habit of copying and pasting no longer be something unfamiliar. For now, the habit of copying and pasting has become the only shortcut to doing the coursework without much thinking. Rapid technological developments by providing all the convenience and openness to the widest information is the cause of perpetuation the habit of copying and pasting. Copy and paste practice among students generally are common. Especially when they do the tasks ahead of Mid-Semester Exam (UTS) or Final Examination (UAS).

For students, copy and paste is an alternative way to do an assignment without a lot of thinking, especially if the task is getting closer to the time limit specified. For that reason, copy and paste can be said is the easiest way to accomplish responsibilities.

Laziness, lack of self-confidence, and the misappropriation technology is the cause of the perpetuation copying and pasting habits among students. Slacker is a human trait that is owned by all the people, not least for the students. Students sometimes feel fed up with piling tasks given. In a state of tired and bored undeniable if they want everything practical and instant. This is then makes the students choose a shortcut by copying and pasting.

The lack a strong sense of confidence becomes an underlying thing for someone to do a copy paste. Unreadiness a person in making a task that caused it can happen. The fear of such things given task cannot be resolved in time, cannot work as it should, and the inability to develop critical thinking and way of thinking is the main reason students do copy and paste.

However, the ease and openness of the Internet access is then abused by students. Without thinking, students often do copy and paste without referring to the copy of the reference. Even sometimes students also collect assignments from the copy paste without editing first.

According to me copy-paste habits can have a negative impact on the offender's own self. This can lead to dependence on others so that it will 'shrink' independence, accustomed to instant things so lazy effort, blunting the ability thinking, not capable to find solutions to the problems, passive in the work, which is not much increased insight and perhaps still much more. So it has more of the negative side than the positive side. Especially for students who are currently in the stage of 'search for identity', if from the beginning has been familiarized with the instant and delish live alone, imagine what would happen later in the future.

Considering student as an educated intellectual, the habit of copying and pasting should not be done, because as a learned habit of copy and paste is a form of deception that indirectly affect our intellectual quality. Students who had been required to develop a science by issuing ideas, critical thinking, must now be passive when facing a problem and tend to take shortcuts in practice just to complete the responsibilities.

TOPIC “YOUR DREAM FAMILY”

LIFE AFTER MARRIAGE

            Family is a kind of human relationship that united by consanguinity or by very close relation. All people have family in their life, weather in consanguinity or caused by very close relationship. Family by consanguinity may include of parent, son, daughter, grandparent, cousin, nephew etc. while family that formed by very close relation is mostly called kinship. In moslem perspective, the parameters of good family in consanguinity are sakinah, mawadah, warohmah (peace, love, and blessed).

          My dream family include of sakinah, mawadah, warohmah. Five years later I plan to get married with my ideal husband, exactly in my 24^th years. I wish my wedding is covered by a big party and go to beautiful place for honey moon. I always dream to have a family with full filled necessary such having a big house located at a fresh developed village, having luxurious car, permanent job, big company, etc.  I want to have a smart son and beautiful daughter who have higher education. Especially for my son, I want him to enter cottage, then he can be a hafidz. And for my daughter, I want her to enter medical academy. As a moslem, she should wear veil.

          Furthermore, my dream family is a comfortable family that in full harmony. I want my husband has enough time for his family, even is a hard worker, but family is the priority. So we can go on vocation. I wish me and my husband would be a good parent that control the children’s development very closely.

          Therefore, same as when I looked boy friend, I also have some criteria for my ideal husband. Because, marriage is once in my all life, so I don’t want to choose the wrong guy. The first criteria of my husband are religion. My mother said the religion is the important thing to having family. She also said that the person who can lead you to the heaven is your husband. Second, he is a hard worker and has permanent job. Third, he isn’t smoker. Fourth, a man who loves his family and be responsible. 

          In conclude those all are still in my dream. But now I have my confidence to have them all. Because I’m already find the person who has the most of criteria above. At last, I wish those all come true and be a family that include of sakinah, mawadah, warohmah.

Topic “  If I could go back in time”

Wrong decision

            When I was senior high school, in the third grade I have a friend named “ V”. At that time he studied in DCC Metro. He was two years older than me. I knew him because of my neighbor, He is friend of my neighbor. First time I knew him he visited in my home with my neighbor, He fixed my computer, because my computer was broken.  First time I met him, we just like a friend. He visited  my home around five hours, Than he go home. At the night he showed himself in social media in facebook. He sent me chatt, It made me shock, He asked my number than I gave my number to him. After that he sent me message, He always sent me message every day.

          Day by day he always sent message to me, Than in a morning he sent me message than he shooted me in message. I opened a message while shocked, I didn’t believe how could he shoot me, How could he liked me just in a few days. I confused what should I do weather received or reject. Two days later I said “ YES” to him, Than we got relationship.

          First week  I led the relationship and everything was running well, And communication was good. A month later our relationship felt a bit different, He just sent me message at night time. I always felt jealous and suspicious about whatever he did behind me.  Those feelings made me became easy to mad. A few days later he never sent message or called me, He said that he still busy. But suddenly after he never sent message or called me, He sent me message and he asked to breake up. I shocked when red that message, While I cried. It was unacceptable. A few days later I said to him if I want to breake up, but he didn’t replayed my message.

          After that I tried to living my life without him. I became a single girl, around two months. Than he was back and came over to me. I gave good respon to him because actually I still loved him. He offered me to rebuilt our relationship, I accepted his request without any consideration. But this relationship could not stand longer, It was just a month, than he broke me again. It made me disappointed, because my feel was unbalance with his and he said breake me up to me twice.

          I was seriously hurt, I felt I was played by him. I hated him and I promise to myself that I wouldn’t know him. Although I was disappointed so much, I tried to let it go, and it just flew like water.

          Day by day I passed without him. Longer and longer everything run better. If I could go back in the time when he offered me to rebuilt our relationship, I would never gave him chance.

McGrath (1955) says that when the authors writers narrative text, he/she tells the reader story. Although narrative serve a variety of purpose, the most successful ones usually share three basic characteristics: they are clearly organized in time, make a central point, and contain specific details relevant to that point. It’s purposed to entertain, to gain and hold a readers' interest. A narrative text refers to any type of text that tells a story. This type of text can be fictional (made up) or non fictional (a personal account of an event).

How to differ narrative writing and other writing genres

           

The most fundamental difference narrative text with other writing genre is in generic structure. Narrative text has generic structure they are:

• Orientation
• Complication
• Resolution
• Re-orientation

I will give more explanation differences narrative text and other writing, I choose for example differences between narrative and recount writing.

The easiest way to catch the difference is analyzing the generic structure. Recount writing presents the past experiences in order of time or place; what happened on Sunday, then on Monday, the on Tuesday. In simple way, recount describes series of events in detail. It does not expose the struggle on how to make them happen. The event happened smoothly.

On the other hand, narrative introduces crises and how to solve them. Narrative writing always appear as a hard portrait of participant’s past experience. It reveals the conflict among the participants. Cinderella’s conflicts with her step mother and sister are the example. The conflict is the most important element in a narrative writing. Narrative without conflicts is not narrative any more.

How to make a narrative writing
  

• Decide topic

What is the story you want to tell?

Example: My bad experience to bought handbag

• Decide  your plot and setting

Example: plot (forward), setting (setting place on supermarket), (setting time in the evening).

• Make orientation text for introducing

Example:

One day there was a young girl named Arum Nur Wijayanti. She is careless and prodigal girl. She was attractive and cheerful in daily activity.  She was me. I lived with her parents and my sisters.   All of my sisters already got married.  My parents and my sister is a teacher. I was school in SMA N 1 PUNGGUR when the third semester I went to Bekasi to visited my sister. I went to Bekasi with my father by bus. When arrived in my sister’s house I did my activity like usual in my house. But in Bekasi I always go around by bicycle. I always go alone by bicycle in every morning and evening.

• Make complication for crisis of story

Example:

Then I was so shock and sad because the money was not enough with the price. The price was more expansive then the money which I brought it.

• Make resolution from the story this step it is the final series of the events which happen in the story.

Example:

I said “sorry my money was not enough. I failure to bought this handbag and I will bought someday, thank you”.  I went out from the supermarket with my disenchanted.

• The last re orientation for closing the story.

Example:

I was so sad, shy, and I ride her bicycle while cried. I didn’t tell with my father and my sister and the next morning I back to my village with my father by travel.

Unpayable Handbag

            My bad experience when I failure to bought handbag in supermarket. This happened when I in Bekasi. One day there was a young girl named Arum Nur Wijayanti. She is careless and prodigal girl. She was attractive and cheerful in daily activity.  She was me. I lived with her parents and my sisters.   All of my sisters already got married.  My parents and my sister is a teacher. I was school in  SMA N 1 PUNGGUR when the third semester I went to Bekasi to visited my sister. I went to Bekasi with my father by bus. When arrived in my sister’s house I did my activity like usual in my house. But in Bekasi I  always go around  by bicycle. I always go alone by bicycle in every morning and evening. 

        The next evening I go around by bicycle. I went to come back in my village. So I prepared my needed for tomorrow. When go around I went to supermarket to bought handbag for my things, because I brought many things so I need handbag. I brought a few of money that was Rp 20.000 to buy that handbag. When I entered in supermarket I was looking for that handbag, and the situation in supermarket was crowded in the evening. I found that handbag and I took. The price was not written as usual in the handbag. So I just took. I made line with the other customer and the made line was so long. Then when my turn I said “How much?” and the caseer said “Just it, RP 27.500”. Then I was so shock and sad because the money was not enough with the price. The price was more expansive then the money which I brought it. Than the caseer said “You would take it this handbag?” and I said “sorry my money was not enough. I failure to bought this handbag and I will bought someday, thank you”.  I went out from the supermarket with my disenchanted.

I was so sad, shy, and I ride my bicycle while cried. I didn’t tell with my father and my sister and the next morning I back to my village with my father by travel.

Underlined sentences are called topic sentence because they are outline from the paragraph. The following sentences explain or describe the idea in more detil. Those following sentences are mostly called supporting sentence.
